Story Behind the Song
We, the baby-boomers, have grown older and wiser now and have experienced a lot. Be it of our choosing or not, we are the leaders and teachers of today.
During our journey through life, most of us have stood-fast in our belief that the true meaning of "appreciating diversity" goes beyond race and sex - it is about accepting differences. Differences in the way we look, think, talk and contribute.
Now it is time to share what we have learned, step up to the plate, tend the garden and leave a legacy of coming together. The time to choose is here...
Lyrics
The winds of change are blowing,
the time to choose is here.
And change is never easy,
and choices seldom clear.
But everything that lives must grow
and all that grows must change,
and if I'm to make things better,
then I can't leave things the same.
To hold back from that first step
is what holds me back from winning.
The past is gone, I'm movin' on
to see a new beginning!
We're standing at an open door
that leads to the unknown,
with wisdom and experience
of the gardens we have grown.
The difference that we make today
we may never know.
But go ahead and plant the seeds
and faith will make them grow.
To hold back from that first step
is what holds me back from winning.
The past is gone, I'm movin' on
to see a new beginning!
We're on this trip together
on this rolling, spinning ball,
and the greatest chance we're taking
is to take no chance at all.
We'll climb this hill together
and cast our fears away.
We'll face the new horizon
and see the dawning day!
To hold back from that first step
is what holds Us back from winning.
The past is gone, We're movin' on
to see a new beginning!
