Story Behind the Song
The wife of the priest at Scott's old church had struggled several times with cancer. The third time it was clear that the cancer was finally going to take her. She had the luxury (if you can call it that) of time to travel around in those last few months, saying goodbye to family and friends -- time to "get her affairs in order", as the saying goes. We hope this song will be of comfort to somebody somewhere.

WHERE I'LL BE

Another ache in another new place
Another pill to take, another symptom to chase
And I feel like it's time to find myself a place to kneel
And pray for grace and perseverance
A winged embrace to hold the near and the dear ones
'Cause they're scared, but I'll tell you, I'm prepared
CHORUS
To walk that long straight and narrow
I'm not a prisoner to this body of mine
But they say the cancer's running deep in my marrow
Can you help me make the most of a little time?
And I don't know if it shows
But I'm feeling each breath grow shorter
I guess it's time to put our affairs in order
And be sure that you'll be well provided for
CHORUS 2
To walk that long straight and narrow
To keep your faith and leave your fear alone
And don't you paint me as a saint or a hero
I've never found perfection on my own
He's the brightest Light, we've always known
So as the curtains close around me
I feel the final touch of all of you who surround me
It's the way you say goodbye
That helps to light the way to die
So shed a tear for an ending
But God in Heaven gives His heart to your mending
And you'll see, that anytime and anywhere you think of me,
Then you know where I'll be.
