Story Behind the Song
Scott was walking his dog (Zak, for you trivia buffs) one night and suddenly thought that Constellation would be a good title for a song. So we wrote one.

The spark inside was like a magnet drawing her to you
A well of wisdom that's almost too pure to look into
But the cup you give her always dries and leaves her wanting
You open windows, just a glimpse of who you really are
You slam them in her face, though you know that she can see that far
Through fingerprints and tears, your image fades to nothing
Don't swallow your heart as it's beating (don't swallow your heart)
Don't silence your song - open your eyes
Was the promise of you worth believing? (you'll tear her apart)
The light's nearly gone - will the sun ever rise?
I guess it's what they call a no-win situation
I talk too much, and you never listen
There's a light inside of you, boy,
that burns brighter than a constellation
But you're just as distant
You have two hands, I see them reaching for a common key
One crushes out a cigarette, while the other holds infinity
The race you run won't take you where you should be going
And it's unkind to choose which side of you you'll let us see
You blow my mind! How many people can one person be?
(You're one too many for me)
Quickly, let us reason while your better half is showing
Don't swallow your heart…
So what's the point of all this one-way conversation?
You nod your head, but there's something missing
There's a light inside of you, boy,
that burns brighter than a constellation
But you're just as distant
She bites back tears and talks of reconciliation
Hang up the phone, walk back to prison
There's a light inside of you, boy,
that burns brighter than a constellation
But you're just as distant
