Story Behind the Song
Sometimes when you go to visit a fortune teller,
her Tarot cards predict the truth! So much for
sensibility!
Anyway...
I thought the song up shortly after my some personal
belongings were stolen by 'friends.' I was
pretty upset at the time, so the vocal just
came out with the bitterness.
Am I still bitter? No! I got a great song out
of the deal! Just like the fortune teller told
me, "No experience is unjustified"...
Lyrics
23 Years with my heavy head
Hangin' it out where it don't belong
Placin' that thing in a guilotine
when I think I'm right, I'm wrong
O, Bad Bad Moon
Too many times I looked around
with my nose up in the air
seen it before, drew the seven of swords,
it should have told me to beware
O, Bad Bad Moon
(chorus)
I'm not going without a fight
I'm not going before my time
I'm sure you'll find out all too soon
that misfortune's stained in black and white
in a shroud of a big Bad Moon...
(end Chorus)
Death's bugle sounds, rings through my ears
Like a ghost train rolling by
The Fool follows me every step of the way
what I have to ask is "why?"
O, Bad Bad Moon
Walkin' through the desert
with the heat on high
wind blowin' the only sound
Like The Hermit on his own
I'll be walking alone,
friends nowhere to be found
O, Bad Bad Moon
(chorus)
I'm not going without a fight
I'm not going before my time
I'm sure you'll find out all too soon
that misfortune's stained in black and white
in a shroud of a big Bad Moon...
(end Chorus)
(Instrumental Interlude, which varies from
performance to performance)
Too many years with my heavy head
wondering where in the hell I went wrong
looking at the ceiling from eternal bed
from somewhere I don't belong
O, Bad Bad Moon
Someday I may be famous
But more likely infamy
too many friends turn their back again
too quick to point the finger at me
O, Bad Bad Moon
(chorus)
I'm not going without a fight
I'm not going before my time
I'm sure you'll find out all too soon
that misfortune's stained in black and white
in a shroud of a big Bad Moon...
(end Chorus)
