	Story Behind the Song The lyrics to this one were written in the Edward Boyle library of Leeds University, when James should have been doing some work. After much redrafting and rewriting, the music was finally written by singing the lyrics and figuring out what the chords underneath should be. AS for the recording, well, the drums, bass, piano etc wre done in Cubase, drums step edited and everything else played live, then the guitar was added on the second pass and vocals laid own on top of that. Lyrics I had a dream last night./ It was a wild, crazy dream./ I had your elder sister- yeah, I HAD your elder sister- and a big, flash, powerful, American car........... Now every time I get passed by an XR3i, every time I see apromise turn into a lie, I sigh - perhaps I cry - and I ask myself why? And every time I`m overtaken by a BMW, it only serves to remind me why I can`t stand naked in front of you, for I am....... " COMPACT MAN " And those extra four centimetres can really make all the difference, let me tell you, coz I know...... Well if I, I had a big fast car, well then I, I could real far with you and your friends and your sister as well, what the hell- those little back seats aren`t made for putting SHOPPING on, anyway. And if I, I had a BMW, I wuldn`t need to lock the door of the toilet cubicle, if I, I, had V8 turbo poer, I could hold my head up high in the communal shower... And I win the lottery, buy a red Corvette Stingray, my sex life, MY SEX LIFE FINALLY STARTS TODAY, by the light of the moon and the bass boosted tune heard in glorious Surround Sound and Stereo........... I had a wild crazy dream- but then I woke up- and I own a Metro.............
