	Story Behind the Song I was a philosophy/religion major at a small college in the middle of Kansas. Some of the guys in that department with me made good use of things like sniggering, eye-rolling, and guffawing whenever a woman spoke up in class. They're my inspiration. Lyrics i am a woman of worth and i have been trying to prove the reality of that statement since birth and i see by your smile you don't believe me 'cause i don't lower my lashes and laugh at your lines yeah, i'm not what you think i should be but i've got something to say and i would like to open my mouth get it out but you're always in my way so don't look at me like we're on the same team you know, i just don't jive with somebody who makes me want to scream 'cause when i was a girl all that i wanted was to just to grow up and be me anywhere in the world and i know that's not your agenda but it's mine and it's hers and i know that we don't see eye to eye and i know that it's because you think that you stand taller or you can see things more clearly but i'm not that much smaller and i can see things too really i'm not saying you have to let me to the front of the line but don't make me watch from behind i am a woman of means got my mind and my man and my god and my family and i can sing but i can tell by the look on your face you've got the advantage even though i'm half of the human race and i'm tired of that's just the way things are you know i think things could be much better by far and so it's time to take a stand though it may be my last one 'cause that's who i am and i know that we don't see eye to eye and i know that it's because you think that you stand taller or you can see things more clearly but i'm not that much smaller and i can see things too really i'm not saying you have to let me to the front of the line but don't make me watch from behind
