An early Deridian song which was always a bit more ESoD than Deridian.
CD: Deridian's Purple & Yellow EP   Label: Two Headed Cow Publishing LLC
Credits: Tristan Kromer - guitar & vox, Markus Dorfmann - drums, Lee Nadel - bass, Etan Sekons - guitar

    Story Behind the Song
"Speechless was written chorus first around an afro-Cuban drum groove Markus was practicing a lot at the time. I knew immidiately what the lyrics that fit over it were. The rest of the lyrics had to wait a while for some inspiration from Lee.
"The four of us (the original Deridian) went to a party for Hamptons Magazine. It was just crawling with beautiful women and we were all fairly dazzled. At some point I looked over at Lee and saw his jaw dropped. I knew what the rest of the song was instantly."

    - Tristan

    Lyrics
    I was just standing there
    my tongue hanging out
    Watching all the pretty ladies
    jump and scream and shout
Some of them were walking by
I thought they looked real nice
    Turning for a better view
    looking for her eyes
    Thought I ought to speak,
but couldn't think of any lies
    saying I want you
    I need you ...
    Gimme something to say

    I'm trying to express myself,
but I just can't move my mouth
    My body says it's obvious,
but I guess that doesn't count
Maybe try the simple stuff like,
    "Baby what's your sign?"
"Can I buy you a drink?"
or "My dear you look sublime."
    It may seem kinda silly
but I just can't think of any lines
    singing I want you
    I need you ...
    Gimme something to say

    There are no words anymore
No sense of poetry, just trying to score
I know in the end I'll have to satisfy myself
I just hope they were joking when they
    say it
    damages
    your health.

Just this one last time I'll tell you
I want you to know ...
    I want you
    I need you ...
    Give me something to say
