"Hey man, where's the marmalade?"This is actually an early Deridian song, but truly belongs in the ESoD catalogue.
CD: Deridian's Purple & Yellow EP   Label: Two Headed Cow Publishing LLC
Credits: Tristan Kromer - guitar & vox, Lee Nadel - bass, Markus Dorfmann - drums, Etan Sekons - guitar

    Story Behind the Song
"This song was based on a lethargic groove that Lee came up with during one of our early jams. We called it Marmalade because it remind us of something slow and sticky. The lyrics came straight from the title. It was almost a game to figure out how to use the word Marmalade constructively in a song.

"The double time section of the song was just an excuse to jam out with some funk. The 3/4 time an excuse to get tricky. The deranged tail end of the song? Improvised in the studio with an Eventide effects processor. An excuse to get weird."

    - Tristan

    Lyrics
    Stealing to the kitchen
    for a minor midnight bite
    A light switch click reveals,
    surprise,
    a most unpleasant sight
At three foot eight it stood
on tiptoe halfway in the fridge
What sort of nightmare had my mind
    to reality bridged?

Snort and grunt and shuffle suck,
    creek and bleed and ooze
    What evil craving
    forced it to my cupboard
    to peruse?
    On the counter,
    a generous feast..
    the beast seemed food depraved
But turning with a smile to me,
a grin of almost curious glee
    it half shouted...

    "Hey man, where's the marmalade?"

    You devlish little beastie
how dare you eat my food
    That's my private property
you had no choice to choose
If I catch you back here
you'll wish you stayed in bed
I'll lock you in your sisters room
then I'll tell your mother little brother
