    Story Behind the Song
This song is about ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) People often refer to sufferers of ADD as "space Shots" Dreamers with huge imaginations. People who cannot seem to focus but are often driven to do great things. Often misunderstood, they find themselves in all kinds of trouble at the hands of people who do not understand. Yet tap into their world and you suddenly realize there is something extraordinarily gifted about them.

This song was born out of a dream. I dreamt I entered a shop on the high street. Inside was what I can only describe as an early 20th century brothel. The women there were dressed in what looked like maid's uniforms with frilly doily hats on their heads. Two of them guided me to another room further down the hall. It was like a bedroom with a 4 poster bed in one corner beyond the door. However directly facing me was a cabinet of map-draws. Those long thin, deep draws which can be used to lay large map and paper flat. There were 6 or 10 of them in the cabinet but unlike a usual map draw, these were made of highly polished wood to suit the decor of the room.

One of the women gestured toward the map draw as if presenting me a prize on a television game show while the other said. "Choose your fantasy."

I looked down at the various labels in the centre of each draw till I saw one that had an astronaut in a space suit. Holding a flag as if on the moon. The label read. "I am a spaceman." I pointed toward the draw and as it automatically slid open, this music began to play. Complete with a voice with a German accent singing...

"I am a spaceman I live in outer space.
I am a spaceman I live in outer space
On a mission to Mir, they left me here.
Now I can't rejoin the human race."

Shortly after I woke up. I rushed out to the studio and jotted down the basics. What you hear in this song is almost exactly what I heard in the dream. I didn't catch anything much beyond the second verse but I heard enough to extrapolate the rest.

Special thanks to René Schmitz for doing the authentic German Vocals. And translating the poem into German for me.

If you suffer ADD like me, Wear the badge with pride. You're special.

    Lyrics
I am a spaceman I live in outer space.
I am a spaceman I live in outer space
On a mission to Mir, they left me here.
Now I can't rejoin the human race.

I am a spaceman I live in outer space.
I am a spaceman I am off my face.
On a mission to Mir, they left me here.
Now I can't rejoin the human race.

    I dream.
The dream trickles to a creek,
    the creek to a river,
and the river to a stream.
    The Stream to an ocean,
the waves of dreams crash against my shores.
    I float freely in space.

I am a spaceman. I live in outer space.
Stare out the window and I'm in another place.
I dream of trees and a cool breeze.
I don't want to join the human race.
