Yaravi, danza y huayno, by Daniel Alomía Robles (Peru) |
CD: Southamerican Evergreens
Label: self released
Credits: Pachamama |
Story Behind the Song
This is very well known piece of Peruvian music played in hudreds of arrangements. Up to now it is not known for sure if Daniel Alomia Robles invented the melody or just recopilated it by ear listening to numerous Peruvian musicians. Perhaps he has just got the idea listening to native music and composed the piece. We play the slow part (yaraví) on toyos (the deepest sikus), the medium fast on quena and the third (fast part) on quena accompanied by zanka (siku smaller than toyo).
