	Story Behind the Song The song began as a single line of the chorus written by Rich: "Thank you, Lord, that I'm forgiven..." Ray suggested the rest of the chorus's lines. Everyone had a hand in writing words for the verses, and as a man of southern descent, Ray rhymed the words "prevail" and "hell." Ron contributed major melody ideas and sang a beautiful demo that solidified the composition.. The band debuted the song during a Sunday morning service at their home church, and virtually the entire congregation rose spontaneously and began worshipping the second or third time they repeated the chorus.
