Story Behind the Song
After having been drug thru Hell by Evil Woman, the victim is on his way to Heaven. The lyrics also imply some anger and resentment toward God for having been put thru so much stuff. The song is somewhat in the way of a prayer, asking God for His&Her love, His&Her mercy, and His&Her attention. "Where do we go from here" the victim asks, and God replys "From Darkness into Light". "Were your promises only lies?" the victim cries out, thinking that he's tried his best to do good, but only gotten crap in return. God responds "Just a few more steps and you'll know ecstacy", "Just a few more steps and I'll set you free".The song is also a statement on how I think Reality and Life works, ie., there is a rhythm to creation, everything goes in cycles in which there are peaks and valleys, we are carried down into Hell, then up towards Heaven, back down, up, down, up, down, etc. Like a pendulum, the swing to the left is eventually equal in magnitude to the swing to the right. This can be viewed as occuring within a lifetime, the ups and downs of Life, but could also be viewed from the larger perspective, where we are carried down into hell (Life, physical existence) then up into heaven (Heaven, The Other Side, spiritual existence), and this up/down cycle repeats (reincarnation). In retrospect, if I hadn't gone thru everything that I did, then the Evil Woman album would never have been created, so inspite of all the pain, in the end there is something to be thankful for.
Lyrics
(Climbing:)
Where do we go from here
From darkness into light
Where do we go from here After a
Long and evil night
Climbing up from the valley Oh I can
Almost see the light
Just a few more steps now Baby And you'll
Know eveything's going to be alright
Oh, show me your love, now don't you
Turn your back on me, no
Just a few more steps now Baby And I'll
Know ecstacy
Where do we go from here
Were your promises only lies
Where do we go from here After all the
Long and lonely cries
Climbing up from the valley Oh I can
Almost see the light
Just a few more steps now Baby And you'll
Know everything's going to be alright
Oh show me your love, now don't you
Turn your back on me, no
Just a few more steps, now Baby, and I'll
Set you free
