Story Behind the Song
We actually wrote this bitch in the studio (the world famous Pus Cavern), Mathis had the main riffs and Fraulob came up with the bridge. Mike sang the chorus melody and that was the bomb. Mathis, Fraulob and Rat sat down and worked out the lyrics, based on Mathis' idea of a them vs. us kind of trip. Even though this song was written, recorded, and mixed in a day, it's the first real musical and lyrical collaboration of the new Solar, and basically lays out our new musical direction to a T.
Lyrics
[Verse I:] Sick of all the ways you wear your clothes, I'm living God Bless You -
The past is gone away.
Shadow of the same, child of blame, drive too fast -
Sucking up all the rage, I fucked up again. [Chorus:] And I stand here, Generation -
Life of flames ahead.
This way of living, out the window -
Might as well be dead.
[Verse II:] Cross me off the list and face the day, Living with bad religion -
Your God has gone away.
So much for the plan You made man, the trials and the tribulations -
The pain is gone today.
[Chorus]
[Bridge:] As my blood boils deep -
When I'm fast asleep -
In my dreams I see flames -
Cuz our world ain't the same.
[Verse III:] Sick of all the things you wrote on the wall, I'm living no thank you
The past has gone away.
Survival of the rest you flunked the test, the trials and the tribulation -
Your Generation's dead.
[Chorus X 2]
