Story Behind the Song
This is a Traditional Delta Blues style piece.
The guitar part is played on my newly acquired 1937 National Duolian guitar. The guitar is tuned to open 'D' tuning and played with a slide and finger picks.
The words are based, in part, on Jim Thompkin's 1930 recording, "Bedside Blues." Thompkins was a relatively unknown early Delta blues artist, having only recorded two songs in his lifetime. Bedside Blues is the only surviving work of this artist. It has been preserved on Document Records release DODC-5002 "Son House and the The Great Delta Blues Singers (1928-1930)."
This song was recorded live in my studio in about 3 or 4 takes. I hope that you enjoy it.
