A song about the irony that is popular culture.
Credits: Matthew Post -- lyrics and music

    Story Behind the Song
This song is an observation of the seeming hypocricies and double-standards we hold towards popular culture, especially as teens, though I'm sure it stays with us all our life. A lot of focus on the state of affairs in the music world these days. Nothing's ever really new, just the same old thing in new clothes, which isn't to say that's a bad thing, but I think it's good to be aware of it.

    Lyrics
    The school bell rang
And the hipsters hit the streets
    Armed with the latest fashions
    From the outmoded industry
    Listening to the cutting edge
    Derivatives from their parents' scene

They laid to rest the prophets
    Who taught us reactionary mantras
And they cried at the loss
    Of recycled philosophies
    That only skimmed the surface
    Of this stuff, humanity

The answers to our questions lay undisturbed
Next to a stash of cash and pornography
    As you can see
There's not much interest in reality

There's a fortune to be made
    In insincerity
