Story Behind the Song
This song is from an unreleased
CD of jazz standards that I
recorded in 1993.
I had a different lifestyle, then, and
thus, a very different focus. I
LIVED for sad love songs! I now
understand that the reason I was
so unlucky in love was that I
believed love that didn't hurt a
little wasn't love! Foolish
Man!! This arrangement is
loosely based on a version of
this song I learned from Sarah
Vaughan's "Live in Japan". There
are some stellar players on this
recording, led by bassist
Charles Fambrough. The rhythms
tracks are original from 1993
recorded in Springhouse, PA at
Morning Star Sudios. The vocals
are from 1998, recorded at Baby
Monster in NYC. Engineer Danny
Kadar is responsible for the
fantastic mix.
Song was included in the original release of JUST LISTEN, but, will be available, again, in it's original recording, here on MP3.com
Lyrics
******AUTHORIZED COVER*****
Rainy Days and Mondays
(Roger Nichols/ Paul Williams)
Talking to myself, and feeling
old.
Sometimes I want to quit,
Nothing ever seems to fit
Hanging around, nothing to do
but frown
Rainy Days get me down.
What Ive got they used to call
the blues.
Nothing is really wrong, I just
dont belong
Hanging around, nothing to do
but frown
Rainy Days get me down.
Funny, but it seems I always
wind up here with You,
Nice to know Somebody loves me
Funny, but it seems its the
only thing to do
Run and find the One who loves
me.
What I feel has come and gone
before.
No need to talk it out,
Cause we know what its all
about
Hanging around, nothing to do
but frown.
Rainy Days get me down,down,
down.
(Interlude)
What Ive got they used to call
the blues
Nothing is really wrong, I just
dont belong.
Hanging around, with nothing to
do but frown.
Rainy Days, always, get me down.
Nothing to do but frown
Rainy Days, always
Get me down, get me down
(repeat)
Rainy Days and Mondays (repeat)
Get me down.
Rainy Days and Mondays.
