Nakasu Blue is a place in Japan where a number of jazz musicians have worked. The Japanese people, like people all over the world, have a great love and respect for jazz. This song is about that place geographically and in the heart.
CD: Where Can Our Leaders Be?   Label: USA Records distributed for Dee Square Record Company
Credits: Written by: Dee Dee McNeil & Dwight Dickerson

    Story Behind the Song
The song was written in Los Angeles, California. My co-writer, Dwight Dickerson had just returned from Nakasu Blue in Japan and had written this as an instrumental. He's playing piano on this recording. I put lyrics to it and came up with some of the melody. It only took a couple of days to write it and it was recorded "LIVE" in one take. That wonderful saxophone is being played by Charles Owens.

    Lyrics
    NAKASU BLUE
By: Dee Dee McNeil & Dwight Dickerson
    Nakasu Blue/ Nakasu Blue
Place of mystery, where the ivory keys
    tinkled melodies;I met you.
    Nakasu Blue/ Nakasu Blue
Place of mystery, where the ivory keys tinkled melodies; I met you.
I was all alone. Several thousand miles away from home. Then you came into my life. Made it very, very nice, Nakasu Blue. I met you.
Keyboards in the night. Jazz-u music for the Japanese delight. There was magic in the sound. So much love was wrapped around Nakasu Blue. I met you.
    Nakasu Blue/ Nakasu Blue
Place of mystery, where the ivory keys tinkled melodies. I met you.
