Story Behind the Song
This is a reflective piece about getting hooked on anything and the false regular release that it provides. About the half conscious knowledge that theres always something propping you up, and the moments of sobriety when you look back and suddenly realise where everythings gone. This was recorded in four hours at Koolworld in Luton and produced by Mat Collis and the rest of the band.
Lyrics
VERSE 1
Smoke ring,
15 seconds until I feel nothing,
Maybe the need,
To Stop,
Somehow though I just keep on going,
Taught myself well.
Burn Down,
Everything that I could not face down,
Guess that I burnt too long.
Took out things that I still wanted.
Chorus.
To find the light,
The beautiful blinding light,
Regain my sight,
Make all my days..into night
Verse 2
Choking,
Lungs too full I can feel my head go,
Floating away,
Again,
Only remember when the great white cloud comes,
To bring back,
No need,
All is postponed by one long sweet breath.
Take me away,
To where,
Theres something you dont need to work at.
Chorus
Breakdown
Feeling this slipping
Now I know that its twisting,
losing my grip and now its out of control.
Now that its kicked in,
Taxing my system,
losing my gift,
Now its all that I know,
Got my affection,
need some protection,
gaining momentum,
Man it started so slow,
Losing my grounding,
sneaking and snatching,
Stockpiling style,
robbing me blind,
Now Im in its grip,
and Im feeling it rip,
burning its Imprint,
into my soul,
tryin to resist it,
but its just so persistant,
too heavy to lift,
and its taking my goal,
So Im trying to stand up,
but its tying my hand up,
Sewing my eyes shut,
Man I dont wanna go,
Too far gone now,
Friends given up now,
They didnt want to,
Guess I just smoked them out.
