	Story Behind the Song I have played this song in front of many people. Some have hated it... I don't care. This song was squeezed from my soul. Lyrics desperation has a texture and it coats the insides of my skin humiliation tastes like metal a naked, jagged aluminum and hopelessness is the hollow of February air filling my lungs it is the substance of excuses it is the struggle with a lack of reasons am i getting close to the place where Jesus can find me as i gaze over the cliff could he be right behind me there are times when it seems that nothing is worth something and that is a small comfort when nothing's all you have and there are times i would swear i am something less than nothing am i getting close when i have melted down the drain am i getting close to the place where Jesus can find me as i gaze into the sewer could he be right behind me his arms outstretched dying to hold me waiting for the moment i'm willing to be held i am kneeling with empty hands nothing to give at all and I suspect there's nothing good in me nothing good at all i am exposing my pride i will abandon it to die i will stand up like the hypocrite that i am if it will get me to that place am i getting close to the place where Jesus can find me as i gaze into the sewer could he be right behind me am i getting close to the place where Jesus can find me as i gaze over the cliff could he be right behind me
