Story Behind the Song
I was inspired, believe it or not, by The
Lovin' Spoonful's "You Didn't Have to Be So
Nice", except my lyrics had a bit of a dark
edge back then. If my memory serves me well,
the song was completely finished except at
the end where the notes keep going up a 1/2
step. The lead guitar track courtesy of
Angel was a 2 hour session devoted entirely
to him. For the handclaps, I stood in the
bathroom with the door open for reverbaration.
If I, the artist, may say so, this is my fa-
vorite track off the album.
Lyrics
"Why Is Our Marriage Failing?"
When I beckon for your time
Have I committed such a crime?
I need you now more than ever before
Can I reach you?
I'll call in late just to work things out
I'm serious, I will take that route
I do not want to fight no more
Can you feel me?
I've been thinking about what I said
It's not a good thing to leave in your head
Instead try and read between the lines
Won't you hear me?
The words haven't come when I want to speak
Days are now turning into weeks
Your forgiveness means a lot to me
Won''t you heal me?
My phone calls you have not returned
Is this some lesson I'm supposed to learn?
How much pain do you want to see?
Can you hear me?
Baby, hear me..
