Story Behind the Song
What can I say? It may not be your kind of music - progressive rock is definitely an acquired taste - but you can't deny the power of this suite as a whole. It is, without a doubt, the piece of music we are the most proud of as a band. Everything went so smoothly, from the rehearsing to the recording to the mixing. The sound of each instrument is clear and defined, and the performances are cohesive and restrained when needed, fiery and loose at other times. It was written, to start, as a exploration of my feelings after having my heart stomped on by someone I thought was my perfect match...
Lyrics
I want you back - tell me how to begin -
'I need you ' I say, and it dies in the wind ;
And I feel just like Rael - confronted by the Lamb -
I don't know where I'm going, but I know who I am...
Nothing's wrong with me, that time couldn't mend ;
But I'm sleeping alone - there's no need to pretend -
And I wonder, in the morning, as I greet another day ;
The face of the orchid - will it ever go away ?
Fire in the valley - famine in the hills -
Wutherwind for summer - late autumn chills ;
Remembrance of springtime - a personal chore -
A deed done in daggers, that her conscience ignores...
