Story Behind the Song
I wrote this poem in response to my own feelings of an evil me which I felt lashing out at this time in 1998. I felt like hurting people and things around me and didn't understand why. But, even though I had these feelings, I held them back. Later on, we come to understand that there is an evil voice within us urging us to do all wrong. But it can be controlled.
Lyrics
The night creeps upon my realm,
as tired eyes soon do appear.
They wistfully wish the day gone by,
and go to sleep without a fear.
They believe that I will protect their souls,
But I wish of nothing more to be told.
Of the wretched beasts up under my wing,
to go out with their song and sing.
Their tone it does a shattered ear,
and awake from sleep and bring back fear.
It rattles the earth and shakes the sky,
and whispers a tale of an everlasting nigh.
I run away all dressed in fear,
and escape with nothing I do hear.
Where is this place you ask of me?
Look in the mirror, it's not hard to see.
