	Story Behind the Song Keith once had this roommate that really wa an ape of a fellow. He was as big as he was dumb and liked to do things like drink beer, shoot guns, and break stuff. Keith and all his friends took to calling him the Shaved Gorilla. One time he even swallowed the keys to his friend's truck. That's the kind of guy this was. An interesting sidebar: Keith sometimes performs this song with his new band Sargeant Bilko Project. At one show Keith noticed an African American man sitting near the front getting very upset as Keith sang. He wondered what this guy's problem was...and then it dawned on him that "gorilla" and "shaved gorilla" are sometimes used as racial slurs against blacks. He mumbled the rest of the lyrics and hoped that the guy wouldn't kill him later for being an asshole. This is not a racially motivated song in any way, of course. It really is about a big dumb white guy that Keith once lived with. But we're hoping maybe we'll get a "Cop Killer" or "Killing an Arab" type contraversy going here. There is no such thing as bad press.
