Story Behind the Song
This was a free form jam recorded in one take.
It best captures where The Husbians were headed musically
and shows how great our drummer was/is and how bad guitar playing can be a good thing.
Lyrics
Falling asleep in the back of god's car again,
where are we going today? Following the beads
of rain down my window, takes me into sleep on the way.
In the parking lot, of the Park-n-Shop, gonna
be on time for his hair appointment. Just a Sunday drive, heaven
sakes alive, it's the time of our lives!
Wandering out on the will of whatever, tip-toeing out on whatever
will be. Climbing up a grain of sand, sliding down the minute hand,
why don't you come along with me? To the parking lot of the liquor store,
gonna mix a gin and tonic-holy water. Gonna make a toast to the holy ghost,
for the son of the heavenly driver. It's a good night for a drive and a slice
of pie, right at the light and then dropped at the door. We'll hide in the center
of the core in the nucleus of every clothes rack in the gosh-darned store.
We collide, but I survived with God inside and no one home in heaven. On a Sunday
drive heaven sakes alive. It's the time of our lives!
(Back to Backstabion in the back of God's car again...)
