	This is about mesmerizing rhythm, cool and clear chord color and a melody that sails above it all like a leaf in a current. Inspired by the Russian River in Northern California.

	Story Behind the Song When I began writing music again after an 8-year silence, it was immediately clear I needed to find a retreat when I could listen with full attention to my muse. A writer friend suggested I check out the Russian River area where she had rented a cabin in the past. I found a perfect log cabin with a stone fireplace near the river in a grove of Redwood trees, brought in a Yamaha studio upright piano and spent the next several years composing all my music there. I wrote "River" on my last visit there.
