	Story Behind the Song The fifth sonata has come to be known as the "Spring" sonata, though Beethoven did not name it. In the key of F major, Beethoven was somehow at peace with his surroundings. It is the key of country happiness: the "Pastorale" symphony, one of the violin romances, the eighth symphony, the op. 135 quartet. The sonata is a completely "happy" work - no dispair, no tragedy.
