Story Behind the Song
DADA made one go at commercial success with this neo-pop Cotolo-Chakedis tune.
It took three studios and a month of rehearsing, arranging, recording and mixing to put this together.
It's the only tune with extra musicians on it, as John Amato joins in with guitars and Mike Levin helps with background vocals [Levin now works as the country's top Frank Sinatra impersonator].
Coratello is on bass; Michelich on percussion; Cotolo sings and plays guitar.
It was arranged and produced by Chakedis, who was totally responsible for the air-tight lyrics and the message, which later became the 'in' thing in the self-help sections of bookstores.
Lyrics
The four winds will blow,
Into oceans rivers will flow,
In the heavens stars will glow.
Forever and then
as long as always and again,
and we all know this is so.
But you'll never know
how much love your heart can hold
if you let your feelings go untold.
It was not long ago,
I really loved, I loved her so.
I was too scared to let her know.
Like all blood and bone,
yesterday here, today gone,
nothing but silence to hold on ...
You'll never know ...
To hold your tongue,
you were taught that from very young,
to say nothing can do no harm.
It isn't true.
You've hurt yourself and others, too.
Should you back and say, 'if only they knew.'
You'll never know ...
