	Story Behind the Song Julia Butterfly occupied "Luna", a 250 foot tall old growth redwood high on a ridge overlooking the Eel River and Humboldt Bay in Humboldt County, California protesting the destruction ot the remaining redwood forest by the debt-ridden Pacific Lumber Company. Julia lived in Luna for two years supported by a cadre of environmental activists. Her vigil brought world wide attention to the issue and helped to create the Headwaters Forest Reserve, 5000 acres of virgin old-growth forest, the last and largest stand of privately owned old growth redwood trees. Julia came down in November 1999 and is a heroine of the first magnitude to millions of people around the world.
