    Story Behind the Song
At the time I wrote this (late 1994/early 1995 or thereabouts) I thought I was on my way to bigger & better things. What if I would finally meet that "special someone" and have to choose between her and the music? Unfortunately, I found neither her nor the "big time" (yet!).

    Lyrics
    VERSE 1:
My life is like a circus
the way I drift from town to town
I'd like to stay and settle
but I can't put my roots down
Or so I always thought but now I've learned
    a thing or two
You know I never had nobody (ed. note - I realize this is a double negative. Deal with it!)
turn my head the way you do

    BRIDGE:
You want to say some things
    that I can't handle now
If you really tried to make the time
would I try and settle down
Well I wonder... if I try to stay here
Will I forget why I first came here?

    CHORUS:
    Here comes the pain
    Like hurricanes
    Where are those clowns?
Why can't they bring them in here now?
    Those things you say
    "Don't go away"
    Where are those clowns?
Why can't they bring them in here now?
    Where are those clowns?
    Send in those clowns!

    VERSE 2:
Well we took a walk, we had a talk
we had a laugh or two
We had a tumble once or twice
    and whispered secrets too
But then there came the night
when it was time to tell the truth
"It's time that I get on my way
I've got my work to do..."

    Bridge
    Chorus
    Repeat Verse 1
    Bridge
    Chorus
    etc.
