Story Behind the Song
I was inspired to write a tribute theme to early film composers (Steiner, Waxman, Tiomkin). It would have a definite romantic/classical sound to it, and I set out to use melodic and harmonic elements that would give it that sound, a la Rachmanioff. The A theme is a slow, moving theme reminiscent of themes that accoumpanied epic cinema of the 30s to the 50s. The B theme much lighter by contrast. There is a tiny cadenza just before the return of the A theme, which returns bigger than ever, reaches the big climax, and ends quietly.
