This is a rock balad. It was called underground music in the early 70s. It was a more focused version of 60s psychedelia and British invasion music, yet it had not yet evoled into what is now called metal. I try to take the listener back to being a teenager in the early 70s. People who weren't old enough at that time can still relate. |

Story Behind the Song
The motivation for this song was just the bad memories that came from being different. Being a rocker type person and feeling the hate, ignorance, and aggression of the establishment type people.
Looking back, it seems there was some kind of confusion. I wasn't that bad. The lyrics of this song is about being looked down on by most of the people who saw me walking down the street, and not having people understand the descrimination I faced because of the way I looked. I wrote the song in 1986. It took me about a hour to write the lyrics and two hours to write the chords. It took about a week to record. I did one take on the lead , three takes on the rythmn, three takes on the drums, four takes on the bass, and about twenty takes on the vocals
Lyrics
There's a nasty boy on the street, is it me. There's a nasty boy on the street, is it me. He keeps on looking for a way to be free. He must be wrong. He must be strong. He can't be me cause I can see, the whole world, moving round me I'am ok. Ya I'am ok. But you don't have to keep on telling me I'am wrong. That one day I will sing a different song. I guess the whole thing is going to fade away if I don't start right now to do my part. There's a nasty boy on the street is it me. There's a nasy boy on the street is it. What about the nasy boy on the street. When is he going to find his feet. There's a nasy boy on the street do you know his name. Does he play your game. Would you take him home to meet the family. Will he see what he's going to be. You know he must be awfully bright. To see what he's going to be, but can he play his part. When is he going to start, to be what we think he's going to be. I won't tell no secrets and I won't tell no lies but I'am ok, tell me who is the nasty boy you see. I won't tell no secrets and I won't tell no lies, tell me who is the nasty boy you see.
