At first in town and in every field men were amazed of that extraordinary and unusual show. Then the fear of the imminent danger prevailed. Some people fled, others still looked at the fantastic images, others thought it right help one another. When heavier ash started to fall a greater fire spread on. All the sky darkened, fog covered the eyes: somewhere else it was already day, there a darkest, blackest, densest night of all. Homes, streets, human lives where destroyed by ash and burning rocks. And a terrible silence ruled, when the enormous explosion ended in the emptied world.
