	this song contains lots of pads and synth sequences, along with some great string arrangements, which is all driven by the 808 beat and 303 bass line. ("nothin' sounds quite like an 8 0 8" -beastie boys)

	Story Behind the Song The opening synth and pads were the first parts of this song that I had programmed into my MC-303. Next I put the beat down, being sure to make it an 808 beat with nice hats. One key was adding the claps on top of the classic 808 snare drum. Next I wrote the pad squences from the middle of the song, and then the violin part. The rising string arrangement was something I decided to do after messing around with a possible violin solo for the main part of the song. The title of the song, "one degree from actuality," comes from a line out of Conrad Aiken's "Silent Snow, Secret Snow." -J.
