Story Behind the Song
If you're into horror and science fiction and you don't know about E.C. Comics, you might wanna check into 'em. This song was vaguely inspired by an old E.C. story that was later made into a "Tales From The Crypt" episode, about a guy who's newlywed bride just can't stay dead because of a voodoo curse that makes her love him forever.
My song is about a guy who keeps making deals with a demon to bring him a nice wife, but the wives the demon keeps sending are all zombies, and the guy wants a live girl, you see. But it all works out nice in the end. Or maybe it doesn't.
That's keyboardist Tom Magill (of The Beetles and The Beat Readers) singing the demon "responses" in the chorus. That guy rocks.
And no, there is nothing Satanic about this song whatsoever; if you think there is, I'm sorry, but you are completely missing the point. It's just a horror comic book with a beat, groovy ghoulie.

Lyrics
sure, I gave up it all
still I can't believe that I bought a voodoo doll
but grant this wish
and I will believe
I believe
break out the bones (you want a girl, you got her!)
break out the bones (to keep you up at night!)
break out the bones (so young when she died--!)
just send me one that's alive, then it would be alright
young and pure she was
a footfall at the door
see what the magic does
but I don't know when it will begin again
I believe
break out the bones (you want a girl, you got her!)
break out the bones (to keep you up at night!)
break out the bones (so young when she died--!)
just send me one that's alive, then it would be alright
hang my head in shame
a voice in the dark says,
"I can hear you complain!
But if you weren't sure, what did you ask me for?!?"
I believe
break out the bones (you want a girl, you got her!)
break out the bones (to keep you up at night!)
break out the bones (so young when she died--!)
just send me one that's alive, then it would be alright
'cause I don't wanna know how they die
just send me one that's alive, then it would be alright
that would make me feel alright
