Lyrics
The Stranger
Long ago in the valley of death
a stranger road into town.
He had come to pay the debt
and to free those that were bound.
He said there would be a showdown
But it will not be the end,
For when the Son goes down
He is sure to rise again.
And his only weapon was his words,
They cut like a knife to all those who heard.
People rejoice, children sang
But some felt the stranger should hang.
He taught about life, He taught about love,
His words filled with power from up above.
Then it was posted; wanted dead, not alive,
No way this stranger could survive.
Well they hung him good and they hung him high.
Many wept as they watched him die.
It was a shock to that old town my friend,
When three days later, he showed up again.
He said there would be a showdown,
But it was not the end.
'Cause when the Son went down,
You know he rose again.
He rose again.
