1.
In almost every corner of the tiny little town
Theres a gallery around.
And in almost every gallery, sleeping at the back,
Is a gallery cat
While the people come, and the people go,
The cats are fast asleep,
And theres only one little kitty I know
Who also earns her keep:
CHORUS:
Shes Margaret, the gallery cat,
The multicolored, calico, gallery cat.
Put a nickel in the cup,
You can give her a pat.
Enough of those nickels,
And shes happy and fat!
Shes Margaret, the gallery cat,
The multicolored, calico, gallery cat.
2.
She walked into the gallery one fine day,
And said, Id like to stay.
Said the man behind the counter as she curled up to sleep,
Can you earn your keep?
Then he made up a sign, a mighty fine sign,
And tacked it above her bed.
He took a little cup, and he put it there, too,
And this is what the sign said:
CHORUS:
Im Margaret, the gallery cat,
The multicolored, calico, gallery cat.
Put a nickel in the cup,
You can give me a pat.
Enough of those nickels,
And Im happy and fat!
Im Margaret, the gallery cat
The multicolored, calico, gallery cat.
The multicolored, calico, gallery cat.
The multicolored, calico, gallery cat.
