    Story Behind the Song
This song was a total experiment for me. For a while, I had become complacent in my genre of blues rock and ballads. So I decided to go a different direction that I wasn't necessarily comfortable in.

I have appreciated some of the tones I've heard in World, Urban and even Techno. Also, some wonderful friends of mine pushed me to expand my musical horizons (Thanks, Nick and KK). But being a guitarist, I wanted to still retain the feel of a guitar oriented song. Yet, I was able to utilize a varied pallette of real and virtual instruments.

As the music took shape, I heard the voices of what I wanted to write about. So I wrote about the suffering of indigenous people. Although there are definite Native-American overtones, this song speaks to all people who suffered in name of progress, commerce and the so-called "true religion". It is very ironic that so many atrocities have been committed in the name of organized religion.

So, there you have it. I hope you enjoy the music. And I hope you are moved by the words.

    Peace...

    Lyrics
I speak the sacred prayer now
And hope my heart is true
I dream the long lost visions
Of the world that we once knew

    Our freedom just a memory
    Despair the bitter truth
The strange ones are our masters
And our scars are living proof

And I call to you Great Father
To guide us through the trials that we must face
For their is no hiding place
From the tears that fill our eyes

    I sing the sacred chanting
    To help us understand
    Why they kill our people
    And rape our fertile land

But some of us were chosen
And found the strength to fight
But our world is slowly dying
Like the long and cold dark night

And so I call to you Great Father
To help us through the trials that we must face
For their is no hiding place
From the fear that lives inside

And so I call to you Great Father
To help us through the trials that we must face
For their is no hiding place
From the tears that fill our eyes
    As our people slowly die...
