	Story Behind the Song The song was motivated by two friends getting a divorce, after being married for some time. I think the real credit for the Muse belongs to a book that just finished reading the night before, a novel by Hermann Hesse, "Narcissus and Goldmund". The song was written in New England and recorded in Nashville. It took about five minutes to write. Of the three song demo it was the most difficult to record. It took about five takes. Lyrics "INNOCENT GIRL" An innocent girl and a typical guy they meet and fall in love in the usual way They get married in a typical church and take their holy vows in a sacred way Now the years go by and after a couple of kids the typical guy gets tired of all this He finds the love of a young sweet honey he breaks the heart of the innocent girl So the lawyer takes over to split the family she gets the house he gets the TV and the lawyer gets his typical fee What ever happened to a love so young and strong has it faded like the bright blue sky with the approaching twilight and the bright stars
