Story Behind the Song
Inspired by an actress friend, who I often watched performing with an improv troupe, before she headed off to the big time in Los Angeles. She had a gift for spontaneously creating strange but endearing characters out of thin air. One of my favourites was a demented daughter she played opposite her then-director, Colin Mochrie, who has since become a regular on "Who's Line Is It Anyway?"
TECHNICAL:
Recorded pretty much live off the floor. Fretless bass, drums, and digital piano in one room, soprano sax in an isolation booth. Recorded directly thru a Yamaha O2R mixing board to ADAT. String pads were overdubbed later. Gear: Yamaha P150 (piano), Korg Wavestation (string pads).
