This song introduces Kirwan into MP3.com. As his first single, Kirwan wanted to show both his talent as a song writer and composer and his need to tell a story and a lesson in his music. This "story" is the first person account of a relationship that went wrong because one told too much truth and the other told too many lies. The lesson here is that if either person can not keep reality in check, both are doomed to lose faith in each other.
CD: An MP3.com exclusive!   Label: None - but Kirwan is looking fo one.
Credits: Thanks to Jared, Mom, and Naomi.

    Story Behind the Song
Kirwan regards this song to be one of his early
masterpieces, and hopes it will draw others to
listen to more of his work. "I write most of my
lyrics while walking, because the steady pace
of my feet and the wind in my face make me feel
like I could take on the world," Kirwan remarks with
a smile. "I was motivated to write this piece
because I personally have been in very disfunctional
relationships where I tell too much about past
and in turn, the girl finds a need to lie to cover
up her emotions. The lyrics at first don't make sense,
to show the confusion brought by the relationship, but
every phrase has an image of what went wrong. For example,
the line 'I have no hands, I have have no heart' refers
to the relationship being out of control and
without warmth. 'I have no church, I have no child'
is a representation of no faith in the relationship,
and no future together, which a child ultimately is.
The more the lyrics are heard, the more they can be encoded.

    Lyrics
You. In a fit. Killing innocence when you lie.
You. Blessed Be. Love is for always, but not eternity.
What ever happened to forgive and forget?
You lost the warmth when you'd regret.

I have no hands. I have no heart.
I have no eyes to see my love.
I have no church. I have no child.
I have no time to cast away stone.

    I. Played the games. Pitched the truth and caught the pain.
    I. Justified love. Love is for always. For eternity.
What ever happened? To give what you get?
You lost the sun when you'd regret.

You have no hands. You have no heart.
You have no eyes to see my love.
You have no church. You have no child.
You have no time to cast away stones.

You. In a fit. Lost your warmth when you'd regret.
