We usually lay off the social commentary and political statements. Who are we, a band, to earn a soapbox for anything other than music? While this song was written well before the World Trade Center disaster, the lyrics might help the healing. "Once There Was a Place Where We Used To Go. Now There's Only Ashes in Our Children's Garden" | MP3.com CD: You & I - buy it!

Story Behind the Song
This one started out in the middle of a rehearsal break. Rick began playing the riff that runs through the instrumental breaks in the song -- and Willie and Haydee joined in with lyrics.
Rick had a garden theme going for the chorus and asked Haydee for a three syllable name. She came back with Anasia. Lewis wasn't too fond of the the title Anasia's Garden when the group took it back to the studio and suggested Our Children. It made perfect sense.

OUR CHILDREN'S GARDEN
Lyrics by Rick Munarriz, Willie Cleer, Haydee
Music by Rick Munarriz, Lewis Martinee
Where are we gonna go?
When the flowers grow in trenches
Why do we always pick the nice ones out
Just let them grow
When the doves are up and flying
Why do we have to aim and shoot them down
And load up again
Once there was a place where we used to go
Now there's only ashes in Our Children's Garden
Where are we gonna go
Can you tell me, will you tell me
Where are we gonna go
Can you take me, will you take me
Now we're looking for an answer
Can you tell me will it be a better world
Can we start again
And I remember. . .
Once there was a place where we used to go
Now there's only ashes in Our Children's Garden
Where are we gonna go
Can you tell me, will you tell me
Where are we gonna go
Can you take me, will you take me
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
Walking through the valley who can we trust
Where are we gonna go?
Can you tell me?
There is no other place to go!
