    Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song after reading a novel by John Sullivan, this was also turned into a movie of the same title. Jack Nicholson, Tom Waits, Merle Streep. It won an academy award. It's about drinking way too much and the effect it can have on your relationships. This song is about 10 years old . I think I wrote it after a hard night of drinking (which I don't do anymore ). The song took about 20 minutes to write . It took one take to record as most of my stuff I don't like to do it again and again. I have a 16 track studio so I can just do it when ever I want. Most of the time It takes about a week to finnish one song. This one was recorded in the studio we call Illegitimate studio's . This was recorded live with Karl Maruyama of Colorfinger playing guitar he and I were drummer and guitar player for Art Alexakis's band Colorfinger before the Everclear shit.

    Lyrics
Well I woke up this morning
    And got myself a beer
And I sat down to drink it
And things became oh so clear
And I knew the reason why
    You were not here
    So i asked everbody
    You were not here

    And I know
    You wil always be
    And I know
    Your my only friend
    And I know
    You would understand
    That If you don't wanna
    Then I don't wanna
    I'm the stupid co dependent
    That let you go
    All I wanted anyways
    Was to let you be

Well I went down to the corner
And I got me another beer
And I sat down to drink it and things became
    Oh so clear
And I knew the reason why
    You were not there
    And I asked everybody
    Your not there

    And I know
    You will always be
    And I know
    Your my only friend
    And I know
    You would understand
    That if you don't wanna
    Then I don't wanna
    I'm the stupid co dependent
    That let you go
    All I wanted anyway
    Was to let you be
    Let you be

    Repeat verses the same substituting
Went down to the bar as the first line for the last verse. The rest is the same.
