    Story Behind the Song
Song was inspiried by a couple: he was living in the future, she in the past.

    Lyrics
The Wanderer said to his own true love
Won't you fly to the stars with me
And we'll make our home past the planet Mars
And a star will your wedding band be.

The Beauty said to her Wanderer love
Won't you please stay and live by my side.
For like a flower that blooms in the field
If I'm plucked from the Earth I will die.

And the beauty of summer glowed in her cheeks
And her laugh was a bubbling stream
And the flowers he smelled at the thought of her name
As he drank in her memory's stream

The Wanderer left on his silver ship
For the call of the stars was too strong
As he kissed her goodby 'neath an autumn sky
He said he'd return before long

He said he'd return on a silver ship
To take her to a new home
So she sits ever night in the pale moonlight
    And watches the stars alone

He flew for years 'round the milkeyway
And he danced with the stars in the sky
But often he thought of his lush green home
And the Beauty that would not fly

One day he returned as he promised her
And his ship touched down in the haze
But a war had blackened the face of the earth
And the Beauty had burned in the blaze

But he said he'd return on a silver ship
To take her to a new home
And she sat and she cried as her green world died
And looked toward the stars alone.

The beauty of summer once glowed in her cheeks
And her laugh was a bubbling stream
And the flowers he smelled at the thought of her name
As he drank in her memory's stream.
