Story Behind the Song
Rick and I (Ed) were sitting in his living room working on another song. He had his guitar in his lap, the window was open and it began to rain (which doesn't happen everyday in Los Angeles). Rick played a couple of chords on the guitar and I recognized it as a Beatles song, Something. Rick said he was actually playing The Rain Song by Led Zepplin. Rick told me the story about how The Rain Song was written and the fact that both songs start with the same two chords. I suggested that we write a song that starts with the same two chords, he agreed and 30 minutes later we had written "Something in the Rain", our little inside tribute to the Beatles and Led Zepplin.
Lyrics
Rainy night lonely, thinking of you
Missing you much, wondering
Where all the time went, we had it all
How could it end, no goodbye
The times we had live on in my heart, forever
Didn't miss you today, feelings have gone away, then
Something in the Rain Reminds me of you
I thought it was all behind me, then
Something in the Rain Reminds me of you
When will it end
Drift off to sleep, knock at my door
Open and see you, my surprised
Eyes they are crying, these tears of joy
I wake alone, my dream is gone
Just like before you left me alone, forever
Will I miss you today, can't stop it anyway - oh - then
Something in the Rain Reminds me of you
I thought it was all behind me, then
Something in the Rain Reminds me of you
When will I see you again
If not more we could at least be friends
I'll wait and hope until then
Something in the Rain Reminds me of you
I thought it was all behind me, then
Something in the Rain Reminds me of you
When will it end
