Story Behind the Song
Some people have found the lyric to this tune blasphemous. I am sincerely sorry to offend anyone. However, my lyrics are merely allegorical. They refer to the difficulties in believing in God's love with all the hate and suffering in the world. I wrote the lyrics from the point of view of someone who's faith is challenged. The person in the song does BELIEVE, but they are having a crisis of faith. So many have lost their faith in the last generation, and this song reflects these feelings of doubt and desire to believe.
Lyrics
God, send me your address now
Cause I need to write you a letter
But I don't know how
I need to tell you just a couple things
There's some questions on my mind
I want to tell you what I think
Oh, God, let me know your name
I've been calling you in vain
Oh God, let me see your face
I'm beginning to doubt your grace
Tell me, tell me God,
If you are so great
How come your brother the Devil
is taking over your place?
I think you'd better, you'd better step on in
Cause it looks like he is kicking your ass
Look like he's gonna win
Oh, God, let me know your name
Cause I've been calling you in vain
Oh God, let me see your face
I don't want to doubt your grace
God, I've been waiting for you to float down
and carry me to another plane
I know you've got milli ons of planets out there
Can I pick another one next time
would you care?
Oh, God, send me your address now
I need to write you a letter
But I don't know how
I need to thank you for a couple things
I want to thank you for the rain, and the stars
and children
Oh, God, let me know your name
Oh, God, let me know your name
Oh, God...
We've been calling you in vain.....
