Story Behind the Song
This song is about wanting to get a letter from a girl...not necessarily a "love letter" but any kind of departure from a testosterone-soaked computer industry career.
I wanted to include an instrument I'd bought at a thrift store for $2 called Hot Keyz; a keyboard shaped like a lightning bolt on a strap. The batteries to run it cost $7! That's the Devo-like sound.
The chorus/bridge part was inspired by a Rolling Stones lyric: "I bet yo' Mama don't know you can scratch my back!"
Lyrics
Email from a Female
(Verse 1:)
Write down all your feelings, baby
write down all your fears
I need a girls perspective
and it seems like its been years
write down any secret dream
just write down what you see
but before you trash that email, baby
send it on to me
Email
from a female
(Verse 2:)
Im tired of gettin email
from members of my team
inter-office memos
just make me wanna scream
I need a sweet diversion
from a woman, not a man
a cyber chick, without a dick
whos got a word to send
Email
from a female
(chorus 1:)
Ooh, I bet your mama dont know you
write like that
Ooh, I bet she dont know you
type like that
Yeah!
(Verse 3:)
Make a snide comment, baby
be sarcastic or morose
in all caps or lower cases
just mail me one o those
be mature or juvenile
be sexy or be pissed
it doesnt make a difference
cause it feels like Ive been kissed
Email
from a female
(Chorus 2:)
I bet your mama dont know you can send a fax
I bet she dont know that you use syntax
Yeah!
(with just a push of a button, baby)
(Verse 4:)
Im lonely in the office
this machine dont do the trick
I socialize with these techno guys
but their jargon makes me sick
I crave a womans letter
close by or outta town
So type it up, send it out
and spin my head around
Email
from a female
(dont flame me now, come on, baby
dont be like that, awww)
(repeat chorus 1)
(Repeat Verse 1)
She got electric estrogen!
(repeat)
