Story Behind the Song
The song was written by Marc and Kevin as the first Deadbolt song. It was produced and recorded originally by Rick Krenmayer in his basement in Dartmouth, MA, with the guitar tracks overdubbed by Kevin and Marc at the University of Rhode Island. The song itself is about being really close with someone and then suffering because you've lost the trust you once had for this person. I wrote this song after I lost the trust I once had in a close friend of mine. Yet, for some reason, I feel partially like it's my fault. The person the song is about doesn't even know the song is about him/her.
Lyrics
Like a stone, I feel no pain
I tell myself over again
when I force myself to stare into your
apathetic eyes
and in those eyes, a stare of hate
I wish I knew why, its too late
'cause now I see myself, I'm fading
into blackness of your mind.
and my thoughts, they fade away...
close your eyes, i'll fade away...
(Get up)
chorus:
If I feel alive, you bring me down
i'm way too high, i come crashing down
if I've strung myself, my one way out,
you cut my line...
And as these words they slice my veins,
the bleeding ceases to amaze
'cause all my life's insides been tainted black
with sorrow, still remains
And all your lies are cloaked in truth
the trust I had, I've lost for you
and so I crumble in this body
where my soul can't be contained
...and the trust it fades away...
...as I bleed it fades away...
