    Story Behind the Song
I imagine there are quicker ways to kill yourself than walking into the Gulf Of Mexico, but p'haps none of them seemed as poetic at the time.

    Lyrics
Longest night and no one calls... Thoughts of you all of last fall
and there comes the heartless stopping again.
Got a decision for when I'm tired of nights again.
The gulf stretched as far as I could ever see,

but it left no reasons and retraced no seasons
and now it's just the fading dread in my mouth.
Nothing but solitude to find you now.

Splinter off the trails of light on the waves so cold and
night parallels the distance that has now faded to grey.
Supplicated failure for when the blue skies blew in.
Can't remember what blew out again,

but it left no reasons and retraced no seasons
and now it's just the fading dread in my mouth,
Nothing but solitude to find me now.

Our threats ignored the lessons learned.
You should have asked yourself, "Is it better not to burn so brightly?"
The lonely star that's destined to return
finds the second round has weights on every word.

Walks in waves and undertow. Haven't had and will never know
what was cast in the searchlights' glow.
Lost it all, just on a whim. Scared to death, the searchlights dim.
Could not remember what we searched for again,

    but it left no reasons.
