Story Behind the Song
this is one of the oldest songs on the ep - it was written in 96 when I was living in Czech. The vocal track didn't turn out like I wanted it to and I still cringe at a couple points... but again, this was a first take like most of the songs.
Lyrics
she kissed me on the bus, warm with wine and company, drunk on lips and ecstasy, and knowing we were crazy - but I'd like to introduce you now to the devil's in my head and I fear, if mine met yours they'd be great friends and probably hop right in to bed
I can taste your salty smile across the room, well don't let me go to sleep - if I could see behind your eyes, then I'd know if I should sleep.
should I sleep.
We had to shut the shades to close the eyes across the street, but they could see right through the walls and our poorly made deceit, but this self-destructive streak of mine is what's keeping me in line in this life you really need at least one vice I've got one to spare for you, oh christ I can taste your salty smile across the room, so don't let me go to sleep, if I could see behind your eyes, then I'd know if I should sleep.
should I sleep.
