Story Behind the Song
A friend of mine, who happens to be a professor of archaeological anthropology, was involved in a 5-year excavation of a bronze-age settlement at Leskernic, on Bodmin Moor in England. I was asked to provide some music inspired bt the site, to be included in a touring exhibition, and the result was these two linked pieces. The first is my general impression of the site, and tries to convey my feelings about the past inhabitants. This is followed by a section inspired by one particular house on the site. The original purpose is unknown, but the alignment with certain local features, and the strange soporophic effect it had on all of us present led me to speculate that it may have been associated with some shamanic rituals...possibly including "seeing" through dreams.
